Alright, so about two weeks ago or so I was nearly about to turn into the court to park when a doe and its mom wandered in front of my truck. They meandered through the middle of the road nice and slow without a care of how big my truck was.

It didn’t bother me, in fact I was in awe of it all, their patience and freedom. Almost ten at night, maybe a little later, and they were unafraid and free. Occasionally making eye contact with me as I continued to follow; a late addition to their night parade.

Once I parked I couldn’t help but smile, “Cool. That, that was cool. Thank you.” Naturally, I was curious at the significance of it all. Originally, perhaps ignorantly, I thought deer meant fragile and skittish based on how many people choose to see them without really trying to understand the creatures themselves (much like how many choose to see people a certain way simply because it benefits them and their jaded/fearful mindset, rather than try an understand the truth of it all; the individual, us, life, experience, perspectives…but that’s another topic all together). Better understand the deer’s abilities in life and length of time they’ve been roaming and wandering around.

So, this is what I found when I searched for a Deer crossing your path:

If Deer has crossed your path;

It is often a sign not to be too hard on yourself. Still the voice of the self critic and treat yourself with gentleness and understanding, be yourself and continue along your path. Seek out your inner treasures and use them generously to help those around you. Trust that kindness and graciousness will be well received.

We are also reminded that we cannot push towards change in others, rather we gently nudge them in the right direction with love and understanding. Lead by doing and showing the way.

Deer is a messenger of serenity, can see between shadows and hear what isn’t being said.

Deer teaches us to maintain our innocence and gentleness so we can share our open-heartedness with others.

Pretty cool right? Thought I’d share.

Be mindful of all that’s around you. Signs of where you’re meant to be and who you truly are are plenty. To try and deny any of them is to continue to fight against the world thriving within you.
